Bowen House is a Victorian End Terrace House, with 4 double bedrooms, 2 on the first floor and 2 on the second floor. All are accessed by stairs only, Bowen House does not have a lift.

Due to the age and style of the property, we are not able to offer wheelchair access but are willing to help and assist anyone who would like to stay with us and has any additional or special requirements.

We are available to discuss any additional or special requirements you may have. Please do not hesitate to contact us.

The house has been sympathetically renovated and maintained and is tastefully decorated with a conservatory extension which is in keeping with the main house.

Bowen House is situated 10 minutes from the City Centre and York Minster.
The railway station is approximately a 30 minute walk away. Taxis are available on the station forecourt.
There is a bus station located at Rougier Street, close to the railway station and again is within walking distance of Bowen House. The number 13 and 13a bus (brown line) to Haxby goes along Huntington Road where you can get off for Bowen House.

Arrival & Car Parking Facilities

We have a car park at the rear of the house which can take up to 4 cars, one per room.  We ask that you park considerately to ensure everyone can use this valuable facility. If parking in a restricted space is a problem we are able to assist with this. We do not however accept any liability for any damage caused by taking this course of action.

Main Entrance & Reception

We have a large front door which leads into a compact hallway and corridor, this can be a little restricting particularly with bags, but we always endeavour to help you with your bags where we can. When guests arrive they are shown through to the Conservatory to check in and register.

There is a bell at the reception that can be used to gain our attention and assistance.

Leading from the main entrance are the stairs to the first floor (2 double rooms) and the second floor (2 double rooms).

Public areas

The stairs to all floors are from the hallway, the Conservatory has a small seating area.

All bathrooms have a shower, toilet, washbasin, mirror and an electric shaver points.

Complimentary WiFi is available subject to the location of the receiving device and the restrictions of the fabric of the building.

Assistance Dogs

It is appreciated that under the Equality Act 2010 we should accept a booking from a guest who has an assistance dog. It is with regret however that due to both Diane and Peter having an allergy to dogs that this will not be possible.

Anyone found smoking inside the premises or in the grounds will be required to pay a minimum charge of 100.00 plus any additional costs for the specific cleaning of fabrics and soft furnishings. You will also be requested to vacate the premises immediately without a refund.
