About Bowen House

Bowen House bed and breakfast is located just outside the City walls near to Monk Bar and is a 10 minute stroll to York Minster, the City Centre and a 30 minute walk from the railway station. Our Bed and Breakfast has been sympathetically restored and is tastefully decorated throughout.  A warm Yorkshire welcome awaits you where you will enjoy quiet and comfortable accommodation together with great hospitality from Diane and Peter.

Room 2 – Superior ensuite room with king size bed & lounge area.

Room 3 – Double ensuite room with standard double bed and seating.


Second Floor
Room 4 – Double ensuite room with standard double bed, coffee table and tub chairs.

Room 5 – Double ensuite room with standard double bed, coffee table and tub chairs.


There is a complimentary hospitality tray and toiletries in all our rooms.


Complimentary parking – space is limited to one car per room and requires some co-operation when parking.  You may also get blocked in so if you want to use your car during your stay you must advise us on arrival so alternative arrangements can be made.

Complimentary WiFi is available throughout your stay.

A delicious breakfast is served in our conservatory between 8.30 am and 9.15 am.

Check in time is between 2.00 pm and 7.00 pm at the latest.  Please note arrival and parking outside these times is subject to availability and must be arranged directly with Bowen House in advance by contacting us prior to the day of your arrival.

Check out time is by 10.30 am.

We do not accept bookings from same sex groups, Stag or Hen parties.

Please note that there are two Gladstone Streets in York, you must enter the full postcode YO31 8RF when using satellite navigation otherwise you will probably end up at the wrong one and have a significant detour across York.
